Off Robpic at London Film and Comic Con

Peter Facinelli stood me up! OK, not quite -- but he did forget his passport and miss his flight to London, meaning he wouldn't make London Film and Comic Con on Saturday, which I'd been looking forward to since I pre-bought my ticket months ago!

Thankfully, he did make it in time for Sunday, and he must have been exhausted; not only from the red-eye from NYC but also honoring all the pre-scheduled tickets from the previous day. The guy famous for playing the compassionate Dr. Carlisle "I'm a good vampire" Cullen worked his socks off so as not to disappoint his adoring fans!

Upon arrival at the event (which, I'm sure was filled with much more women than these convention boys were used to thanks to Twilight!) I immediately scouted out where Peter was signing autographs. My first glimpse of him actually made me "squeee!" - I couldn't believe he was really right there! He was looking every bit as handsome as I'd hoped and just a little more 'rock and roll' with his tousled hair and distressed leather jacket: yum yum!

I went up (a little nervous) to where he was sitting to get my autograph and was immediately at ease; Peter was very sweet, soft spoken and... swift, lol! My brief moment with him was just that, brief - with a line of people behind me, he'd not even had the chance to touch the plate of food that had been brought to him. He did, however, call me 'Lovely Laura' as he was signing my print of him from the Vampire baseball scene (classic choice!) so all was forgiven. I drifted away in a dream like state, slightly unaware of my surroundings, only to turn around and spy...

Justin Chon and Alex Meraz! Justin (Eric Yorkie) was chillin' at his table, waving to fans as they walked by as well as to those who waited on line for autographs. I went up to ask for a photo and he smiled sweetly and made a 'peace' sign for me; he is so much cuter than I ever realized!

Alex (Paul) on the other hand... Oh. Holy. Hotness! That boy's biceps must need extra checking at the airport - yowza! I'd never really gotten the whole 'Team Paul' thing before but, in person my mind went blank... Robert who? ;)

Alex was also very kind, overlooking my bashfulness and signing my wolf-pack print. I asked for a hug (as I'd heard they were great) and he gave me a proper bear-squeeze. Being held by those muscles is no bad thing!

I was lucky enough to get a ticket to the Twilight talk with all three actors. The hall was packed and all the fans were so excited to spend some 'quality time' with the guys! We were told by the announcer, "Cheering is fine. Screaming? Not so much! Everyone values their eardrums." With that they each made their entrance to the stage: Justin holding a camcorder, filming the reaction from the crowd (for DVD extras maybe or just his own record?) and Alex, with Peter joining them from the centre aisle.

Far from screaming, the (typically reserved British) crowd was a little star-struck. No one really knew what to say until Peter said, "These awkward silences are killing me," and proceeded to hop out into the crowd to have fans ask their questions.

My sister was lucky enough to be chosen, and as she cozied on up to Peter (I'm not jealous, really!) she asked, "Do you ever take your Doctor's cloak home with you *wink wink* to your wife?" He seemed amused and surprised as such a question from my innocent looking sister, blushed a little and ahem-ed a while before finally admitting, "No. Sorry to give you a boring answer but, no I don't?"

His sly smile convinces me otherwise.

Another friend of mine, Shraddha, actually got to sit on stage whilst waiting for her turn to ask a question. I can't remember what she asked but I doubt she can either as Justin started giving her a shoulder massage!

The questions continued, with answers containing some amusing anecdotes about jokes on set. Peter apparently bought a card for Robert Pattinson with a joke about "In these hard times, you'll find a good job soon... but as it's you, maybe not" and Rob apparently gave it to Kristen Stewart who didn't think it was funny but (after she got the joke) passed it on to Chris Weitz.

Peter also teased that he has 'Edward envy' and thinks he'd look good hanging out in a tree all day, as well as wishing Carlisle had a super power (I'm paraphrasing but) "It's not like I can go into the Volturi layer and smote them with my compassion... I am the most compassionate vampire in the world and am going to compassionize the hell out of you! Couldn't I fly or something as well?!"

Justin mainly sat back and threw in the occasional witty remark about wishing the humans got more action (of the wolf/vampire rather than the bow-chica-wow-wa variety) but, upon being asked "boxers of briefs" (a la San Diego convention) rather than checking like Peter (boxers) and Alex (briefs), admitted that it depends if you're rocking the tight or baggy trouser style because "the over-the-top parachute look is ridiculous".

Alex was asked mostly about his reaction to the fan base, which he apparently worries is premature considering New Moon isn't even out yet and when asked how he's adjusting to the female attention, he simply responded, "Well?" with a chuckle.

He then spoke about the auditioning process. Apparently all Native American actors read for Sam Uley's role and because he played it really 'angry' he got the part of Paul, whereas Kiowa played it much younger and hence got Embry with Chaske reading it more 'alpha' and so became Sam.

Alex went on to do the 'wolf dance' as Peter called it, where he shook as if to about to phase and went onto talk about how they bonded over doughnuts - with Peter joking that Alex was looking just a little too good and needed some fattening up. Alex also told us how, in an apparent fit of wolf-brother-bonding, he'd tried to teach Kiowa to throw a punch because it's "something every man should learn how to do" - the demonstration of Alex flexing his muscles was worth the story on its own without the literal punchline that Kiowa actually broke Alex's nose with a dead-on hit!

The whole day was such fun, from the Alice costumers to the Edward 'look-a-like', topping off with Peter, Alex and Justin who were so gracious and patient with the fans. If it's possible, I'm even more of a fan than I was when I arrived in my 'A sparkly guy from Forks told me I smell good' t-shirt and Cullen crest necklace , next time I'm definitely going in full costume!

Happy Robday to me!

So today's my birthday - what better way to spend it than in the company of friends and family... other than in the same atmosphere as Rob Pattinson! Meh, drinks with people who love me can wait, right? Especially when Rob's filming less than 5 minutes walk from my NYC apartment - I never had a choice!

So I walk over to the general area of where the set's meant to be and spy some trailers, I casually meander over - hoping not to spark off the near-by security that another "fan-girl" has come to join ranks... who am I kidding, right?

I've been there for maybe 3 minutes tops and Rob comes out of his trailer and walks into the building... *thud* I'm happy, seriously, it's all I needed!

But, of course, my curiosity got the better of me and I take a look around the other side of the building where I find the set in full swing. Rob's character looks like he's having a bad day (I'm referring to the black-eye not the ever present Robliciousness) and waiting for his little sister to come out of school... all whilst putting those fingers through that hair - it gets me every time!

They shot a couple of takes with her running down the steps after school to her waiting big brother. She is the luckiest girl in the world and, by the way, completely looks like she could be related to Rob (in a non-love child kind of way - ha ha) similar bronze hair, the same dazzling eyes!

He was walking along with the little girl - she was really cute, smiling up at him widely and it looked like he was sweetly playing with her hair a couple of takes when she came out of school to meet him - she obviously thinks he's a great guy too ;)

In between scenes Rob just looked like he was concentrating - on his lines, on getting into character, and tuning out the crowd. He was also playing with his shades - taking them off and putting them back on repeatedly - I don't know if it's because it was sunny or a nervous habit. He also kept drinking his soda - constantly! We know how fond he is of his caffeine but maybe these long, hot (fan-girl filled) NYC days are draining him more than he's used to?

When it looks like they're pausing for lunch, I wander back to the trailer side of the building and, guess who turns up - Pierce Bronson! People were so focused on looking for Rob, I don't know if many even noticed 007 striding on up to his trailer.

Pierce (aka Charles Roth - Tyler/Rob's Dad) was such a gentleman - Bond through and through - so friendly and gracious, waving to us and stopping to take photos with a few people - including me!

Pierce went into to see Rob and then they both walked over to the make-up trailer side-by-side together - they definitely have a real father and son quality - I approve the casting ;)

They just walked over once together from Rob's trailer to make-up - they seemed in their own bubble, surrounded by Rob's body-guards (Pierce didn't appear to have one) talking to each other quietly and both obviously aware of their audience.

Sadly, Rob left set soon after - all hoodie-ed up in black with dark shades and a baseball cap and was whisked off in a tinted-window car. It can't be easy being watched all the time (although we were pretty much kept at either end of the block and people seemed quiet and well-behaved) but he seems to be dealing well enough to sign some fans autographs at the end of the day... not for my Birthday though *sigh* come on Rob, what's a Brit in NY to do?!

Check out some photos of Rob shooting:

ON-ROBPIC!

So, I used to go to NYU and nearly died when I saw the footage of Rob shooting outside the building I worked at on Campus - Gah!

When I heard he might be shooting there again today, I got myself down there - rain or no rain... unfortunately there was rain - lots of rain! I was about to duck for cover and wait it out when I turned a corner and spied... his trailer - I swear, my heart actually skipped a beat!

I waited for the rain to stop in a near by doorway and ... Rob walked by on his way to set! He was, of course, shrouded by body guards but was just... just so very Roblicious! I got to see him shoot a little of the movie with Emilie de Ravin (who by the way is as teeny tiny as a beautiful little gold-i-locks doll) where he spent most of the time with the infamous bike and leaning against a sign-post... oh to be that post!

Because of how Rob and Emilie were set up for the shot (on other sides of the street from each other) they didn't get to talk much in between takes - to be honest though, I probably wouldn't have noticed unless they started making-out, I was too focused on Rob. When I first saw him come out of his trailer and dash to the set to a couple of squeals from on-lookers, Emilie followed separately a few minutes later almost completely unobserved. People (well, let's be honest - girls!) watching were mainly respectful of the movie they were all trying to shoot.

During filming he was literally just leaning against the post with the bike, looking like he was meant to be "casually" waiting for Emilie's character to come out of class. A little later on it seemed they were filming a shot where they walk through Washington Square Park, talking things over.

I couldn't tell if it was rehearsal or just them just being themselves but they seemed chatty and friendly - very comfortable and at ease with each other, especially considering the atmosphere, with everyone within a four block radius watching them!

When the cameras weren't on him, Rob just seemed to be looking down at his feet, and concentrating (maybe on tuning everybody out - I wonder whether he's speculated at taking the London stage role because he's so used to acting with a large immediate audience) and, of course, doing everyone's favourite hands-through-the-hair move *swoon* I kept expecting him to light up too but where's a guy in NYC going to have a smoke?!

I did feel bad for Rob with all the attention - it must make it hard to concentrate - but when he walked past again later and looked up and smiled, it was definitely a genuine smile not a "yeah, thanks - whatevs"... or maybe he just heard my British accent ;)

Here's some of the photos (below) enjoy!

Mmm, those fingers!

TwiCrack Intern Application

Yes, I realize this photo looks like I have a bandage on my head (oh, the things I do for Twilight!) but read on...

This post is my official application to be a TwiCrack Intern - my favourite bloggy-buddy has been advertising for a summer helper - and here's why I think I'd be a great TwiCrack Addict addition:

1) I am funny as HALE... I'm not even joking, it's literally true -

http://hiscrookedsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/04/whos-been-keeping-rob-up-late.html

2) I have access to great UK crack -

http://hiscrookedsmiles.blogspot.com/2009/06/off-robpic-with-marcus-foster.html

3) I am generally awesome -

though you'd think this isn't a valid reason for my application, I'd have to keep the Mrs TCA standard high.

Therefore - please refer to every Jawsome comment on TCA; the infiltration of Twilight into my actual career; as well as becoming almost entirely Twilight themed - in a totally Vampire-cool way ;)

most importantly...

4) I am a complete TwiCrack Addict!

Not only of the blog but, of the Goddess creation that is the Twilight Saga [insert heavenly themed music here] and every Kristen (girl-crush!), Rob (oh those lashes, ooh that sex hair, oooh those fingers!) and Twi-related fix I can get my eager hands on:

I created Team Solomon (supporting Sol as Sam) and started HisCrookedSmiles (purely for my own amusement) which was originally devised over at... TCA!

And finally...

5) I'm Team Edward -

he sparkles, plays piano, is entirely swooningly Vamptastic and... WINS - sorry Jacob ;P - MU AH AH AH!

... Any questions?

Off-Robpic with Marcus Foster

So I've not posted for a while - I don't like to use pap photos so, in light of all the lack of Robspect going on, things have been a little drrrrrrry.

That being said, I'm going Off-Robpic with an EP release tribute to Marcus Foster - oh Marcus, how we heart your songs!

However, it appears that you do not heart me after rushing away from me after a recent show - I'm telling myself you were heading for the last tube during the partial strike...

Lol, but seriously, what was that?

I'm a nice girl, I've said "hi" to you after a show before and genuinely complimented your songs, I sit through three openers (ranging from "not bad" to "oh my Gawd what is that noise?!") and apparently that translates as I have the plague - lol, who knew?! ;}

Anyhoo, I managed to take this video - my apologies for the poor lighting but the sound's pretty decent:

More (better lit) videos to follow - here's some photos to keep you going:

If you need more Marcus now (let's face it, who can turn that down?!) check out his exclusive interview with Radar:

Otherwise known as Caius and Demetri - oh yes, the bad boys of the Volturi themselves!

I was lucky enough to see Jamie's band "The Darling Buds" and meet both him and Charlie at the gig - New Moonlicious!

An Unlikely Bromance

I randomly came across this photo of Rob with Jared "I love the way he leans" Leto on MySpace:

Rob's looking a little too uncharacteristically suited-and-booted, which makes me think it's back at the Oscars... but what the hell was Jared doing as the Oscars?!

He's looking vamptastically pale but mostly a bit pished - what is going on in this photo that we don't know about?!

P.s. It's a "My So-Called Life reference" - hellooo?!
